182 Chapter Eight
• How do the utilities come into the site and who will be responsible (owner or the
CM/GC)?
• List all utilities and prepare contact list
• Bridging that may be required to support the temporary utilities
• Temporary utilities required during construction:
• Electrical
• Water
• Fire protection (standpipes)
• Bathrooms
9. Review site plan
• Utility locations noted?
• Topographic survey included?
• Develop a logistics plan (which may have to be presented to the local building
department)
• Any partial street closings required?
• Benchmarks for surveyors noted?
• Any problems with bringing trucks or equipment into the site?
• Protection of neighbors required?
• Any potential noise problems?
• Will turning radius for trucks with large equipment be a problem?
• Will flag people be required for traffic control?
• How many guard stations will be required?
10. Review major dimensions
• Make sure the dimensions add up
• Look at floor-to-floor elevations
• Look for varying floor elevations on the same floor (mechanical rooms and ele-
vator lobbies)
• Note any missing dimensions, such as for the construction of a wall; do not scale
the drawings but obtain the dimensions from the design team
• Check the “blow up” details shown verses the detail on the plans
11. Constructability
• Is structure unique—does the building consist of angles with no vertical sides?
• Are details sufficient?
• Will 3D drawings be required?
• Wills subs have a problem with understanding the drawings?
12. Look at heavy equipment
• Is structural reinforcement provided for heavy equipment?
• Potable and sprinkler water tanks
• Elevator equipment
