Beginner's Guide to SOLIDWORKS 2019- Level I

Since the polygon is defined by a circle (Inscribed or circumscribed), it is drawn

like a circle. Start at the center of the shaft as shown and notice that we

immediately get a preview of the hexagon, its radius and angle of rotation.

Draw the circle a little smaller (or larger) than the shaft. The idea is to make the

construction circle the same size as the shaft using a geometric relation. Hit "Esc"

or OK to close the polygon tool when done. Finishing the polygon at the edge of

the face would capture a coincident relation making the circle the same size as the

shaft's face, but we are going to practice manually adding a geometric relation.
