● Continue to set the remaining Scratch Disk items (Waveform

Cache, Thumbnail Cache, and Autosave Vault) to point to the
same “Final Cut Pro Documents” folder. The Autosave Vault
setting is particularly important, because this is where FCP will
place “autosaved” or backup copies of your current project. If
you should have some kind of application or system crash, a
copy of your project file can be found here.
● Close the System Settings dialog and open the Final Cut Pro HD

Menu > Easy Setup... dialog and confirm that “DV-NTSC” has
been selected. Close the Easy Setup dialog.

Capturing
Once system setup is complete, it is time to get ready to capture (i.e.,
transfer to your computer’s hard drive) the digital video stream file that
is recorded on your DV tape. Open the File Menu > Log and Capture...
window and note the following items:
