EDITING FOR MOVING PICTURES
136
An Insert Edit command literally inserts the dragged clip at the play-
back head position of the target track. Inserting will cause any video
(and linked audio) to be split at the insertion point, pushing any cur-
rent clips in the sequence to the right to “make room” for the incoming
clips(s). Dragging to the Overwrite Edit area will cause the incoming
clip to be placed at the playback head location overwriting any cur-
rent clip(s) to the right. Multiple clip(s) will be overwritten to exactly
match the length of the incoming clip.
Dropping a dragged clip on the Replace Edit area will cause the
overwrite of only the current clip in a sequence up to the length of this
current clip. Note that, during a Replace Edit, the incoming clip must
be as least as long as the current clip. If an incoming clip is shorter,
an error message will appear stating “Insufficient content for edit.”
A Fit to Fill Edit is much like a Replace Edit, except that the duration
of the incoming clip will be adjusted to match that of the current clip.
