            FILTERING RECTIFIER OUTPUT

            Low-pass filters are used to smooth the output of any of these rectifiers by removing ac
            frequency components from the output. The common filter elements used to smoothen
            ac voltage changes are
            1. Capacitors connected across the line.
            2. Inductors connected in series with the line
            Rectifier circuits use a single series inductor as a common filter or a choke (Fig. 9.17).
