Swept, Lofted and Additional Features Engineering Design with SOLIDWORKS® 2018

Project Overview

Project 6 introduces the Swept

Boss/Base and Lofted Boss/Base

features. The 0-RING utilizes a simple

Swept Base feature. The SWITCH

utilizes the Lofted Base feature. The

LENSCAP and HOUSING utilize the

Swept Boss and Lofted Boss feature.

A simple Swept Base feature requires a

path and profile. Sketch the path and

enter the circular profile diameter. The

profile follows the path to create the

following Swept features:

• SweptBase

• SweptBoss

The Lofted feature requires a minimum of two profiles

sketched on different planes. The profiles are blended

together to create the following Lofted features:

• Lofted Base

• Lofted Boss

Utilize existing features to create the Rib, Linear

Pattern and Mirror features.

Utilize existing faces to create the Draft and Dome

features.

The LENSCAP and HOUSING combines the Extruded

Boss/Base, Extruded Cut, Revolved Cut Thin, Shell

and Circular Pattern with the Swept and Lofted

features.

Features in the SWITCH, LENSCAP and HOUSING

have been simplified for educational purposes.
