        to the triplet C 60 and singlet oxygen quantum yields (Figures 5.27 and
        5.28) [86].
          However, since the ratio of quantum yields (  /  T ) is approximately
        unity for all different functional groups, the nature of the addend does

        not hinder the ability of oxygen to quench the  C 60 via a type II mecha-
        nism (Eq. 94) [85, 86].
          All the photosensitization properties of functionalized fullerene
        were first measured in nonpolar solvent in order to accurately gauge
        the induced changes with increasing addends. Nonetheless, these
        modifications were originally intended for increased water solubility
