PM Program Name
Overview
Introduction Define what this document is about.
Goal(s) State the expected goals and objectives. Use this opportunity to analyze how the
goals you are setting align with production or company goals. Is what you are
doing adding value?
Benefit(s) State the desired benefits you expect the program to provide.
Elements If the PM program has more than one element, use this section to list them. For
example:
the lubrication program may be made up of scheduled lubrication and an oil sam-
pling and testing program
the vibration program may be made up of permanently mounted vibration moni-
toring instruments as well as routine readings that are taken by hand
If the program you are defining does not contain more than one element, an
Overview section is not necessary.
Introduction Define what this document is about.
Goal(s) If this is one element of a larger PM program, list any goals that may be unique to
the element.
Although it may be redundant, consider restating goals from the overview if they
apply. The reason for this is that sometimes documentation for individual elements
gets used independent of the overview, and meaning may be lost if taken out of
context.
Benefit($ Refer to the comments in the goals section above.
Definitions Provide definitions of terms used within the program that may not be familiar to
everyone.
Methods State inspection, testing, or sampling methods to be used in the program.
Reviews State the purpose and frequency of the program reviews if there will be any, and
who will conduct the review. The review process should really be an ongoing
process. However, it is sometimes valuable to have someone unfamiliar with the
process review and ask questions.
Training Define any training that will be provided as a part of the PM program, or what
training is necessary to ensure program effectiveness.
Engineering List any engineering standards that might apply to the program. This
Standards facilitates quick reference.
~~~~~
Safety List applicable safety standards andor references. This too facilitates quick refer-
References ence and can be used to identify what safety standards or references were used or
& Standards considered in the development of the program.
Environmental List applicable environmental regulations that may pertain to the PM program.
Regulations This facilitates quick reference and can be used to identify what regulations were
used or considered in the development of the program.
Procedures List applicable plant procedures associated with the program.
Documentation Define the media (paper, electronic, Post-It@ Notes, etc.) that will be used to doc-
ument completed PM tasks, and where the documentation will be stored.
