3D TRASAR Technology for Membranes allows safe operation at
higher recoveries. With this technology in place, the recovery was gradually
increased to 73% by increasing the partial concentrate recycle. This resulted
in economic benefit with mitigated risks (Figure 11.18). Around-the-clock
monitoring by Nalco 360 Service allowed more aggressive water recovery
without hampering system operation or health. The feed water consump-
tion was reduced to 130 gpm. This resulted in estimated savings of
$67,000/year.
The SBS chemical pump failure would have been almost undetectable
without the trended data and alarms from 3D TRASAR Technology for
Membranes. Additionally, from the unbalanced changes between the flows
and pressures in the system, it was possible to identify that the concentrate
