it would result in the net requirement for component item Y occurring one week later.
This would alleviate the problem of net requirements coverage by allowing an extra week
for procurement of the material.
If the inventory planner is unable to solve a problem of coverage by pegging to the
next-higher level and manipulating planned-order or open-order data, he or she may peg
from the parent record to its parent records in an attempt to find a solution. Successive
pegs may lead to the MPS, which may have to be changed to solve a particular compo-
nent-item problem.
