management; plans, proposals, or findings to other parts of
the company; or company initiatives to existing or prospective
clients.
■ Presentation skills do not come naturally to everyone.
■ Comfort and knowledge play key roles in effective
presentations.
■ Ensure that employees know they’ve been selected to present
or serve on a panel because of their knowledge. Praise their
backgrounds and understanding of specific topics and issues,
emphasizing that’s why you’ve asked them to be out front.
■ Build confidence by offering courses and/or opportunities for
small group presentations with supportive feedback.
■ Provide necessary equipment and tips on the most effective
ways to use it.
■ Encourage employees to watch strong, effective speakers on
TV, in videos, or in person.
■ Have an instructional video available and offer basic tips
online or in hard copy.
