244 Reading Between the Signs
Daniel Langholtz is a longtime colleague, consumer, friend, and
fan of Interpreting Community members. He has a B.A. in social
work at NTID/RIT, an M.A. in social work from New York Univer-
sity, and is a licensed clinical social worker. Dan has worked for
many years at the University of California Center on Deafness in
San Francisco, doing both clinical work and training in the area of
mental health and deafness, including training Deaf individuals to
work as relay interpreters. He is currently overseeing the HIV/
AIDS program there. Dan is also a consultant in the fields of men-
tal health, interpreting, HIV/AIDS, accessibility, and relationships
between Deaf and nondeaf people.
Priscilla Poynor Moyers is from a family of Deaf parents and Deaf
siblings. After attending CSUN and Gallaudet University, she com-
pleted the Computer Training Program in Berkeley, California, and
worked as a programmer for several years. After returning to
school, she earned a B.A. in English literature with a minor in
English as a Second Language from San Francisco State Univer-
sity. While pursuing her education, she worked as a research as-
sistant with the ASL Literacy Research Project and as an ASL in-
structor at Vista College. Priscilla also completed an intensive train-
ing program in legal interpreting and has continuously worked as
a relay interpreter.
