           24.1 Ivorian electricity sector

           24.1.1 Institutional and regulatory framework

           24.1.1.1 Electricity code
In March 2014 an electricity law was adopted. This text now devotes the liberaliza-
tion of electricity production, transmission, distribution, import, export, and market-
ing activities, which was a state monopoly. However, dispatching activities remains
a state monopoly but can be granted to a single operator. The new electricity law
also allows taking into account of renewable energies (Autorite ´ Nationale de
Re ´gulation du Secteur de l’Electricite ´ de Cˆ ote ‘Ivoire (ANARE-CI), 2017).

           24.1.1.2 Stakeholders

The activities of the electricity sector of Cˆ ote d’Ivoire are placed under the techni-
cal supervision of the Ministry of Petroleum, Energy and Renewable Energy. These
activities are also placed under the economic and financial supervision of the
Ministry of Economy and Finance and the State Secretariat nearby the Prime
Minister in charge of Budget and State Portfolio (Autorite ´ Nationale de Re ´gulation
du Secteur de l’Electricite ´ de Cˆ ote ‘Ivoire (ANARE-CI), 2017).
