50 The Ultimate Palm Robot
Attaching the Palm Connector to the Deck
There are two 1/4-inch holes drilled along one side of the deck. (There are
smaller holes drilled along the other two sides.) Alternately, your acrylic deck
might have a 1/4-inch hole and a slot along one side of the deck. You want the
side with the 1/4-inch holes (or the hole and the slot). Peel back the paper
from the acrylic, and position the Palm connector so that it is centered be-
tween the two holes.
Mark the position of the connector. Now slightly roughen the surface of the
acrylic with some sandpaper. Using double-sided foam tape, attach the Palm
connector to the deck. When the connector is secure, thread the Palm cable
through the hole or slot to the left.
Cut the Palm cable to 14 inches. Remove approximately 2 inches of the
outer insulation from the cable. Remove all the string, shielding, and paper so
that you have clear access to all six wires in the cable. Based on the following
table, select the three wires you need, and clip the other three wires back.
