48 The Ultimate Palm Robot

Attach the servo to the controller board at pin S1. The black wire in the con-
nector plugs into the pin closest to the edge of the board. Put batteries into the
battery pack and plug it into the controller.

The servo may start rotating at this point. If it does not, toggle the power
switch so that the servo starts rotating. Now turn the brass pin until the servo
stops rotating. The servo is now centered. Detach the servo from the controller
and turn the power switch off.
Find the large gear that you removed earlier. It has a tab on it that stops the
servo from rotating fully. Clip this tab off the gear.

The tab prevents the gear from rotating continuously, so you need to ensure
that it is completely removed. We used a diagonal-cutting plier to cut most of
the tab and an exacto knife to trim the remainder. Also, use caution when cut-
ting the tab, so that you don’t cut yourself.
