Sintered Plate
The alternative method of construction uses sintered metal plates.
These are constructed using nickel-plated steel onto which nickel pow-
der is sintered and then nickel hydroxide is impregnated into the
porous nickel structure. The negative plate (cadmium) is constructed
by mixing together the active material, plastic bonding material, and
spreading this onto a perforated nickel-plated steel strip. Such designs
give a high discharge rate. See Fig. 7.29.
