Enneagram Style Threes
Create Genuine Relationships
Some Threes rely heavily on their relationships for
social support and are willing to share personal
information—a foundation for all genuine rela-
tionships. Other Threes are so busy with work that they don’t
spend the time required to develop deeper relationships. Although
most Threes have well-developed social skills, they may not exer-
cise those skills when they are overworked or feel stressed.
It is common for Threes to have their most important relationships
with people they have known for a long time and/or people with
whom they have work in common. Client relationships, so funda-
mental to the success of Threes, often come more easily to them than
do relationships with people in closer proximity, such as colleagues.
Communicate Clearly
Threes speak as if they were delivering a well-rehearsed Power-
Point presentation, relaying their thoughts in a clear, efficient man-
ner, even when they are speaking extemporaneously. While Threes
prefer advance preparation, they seem to be able to summon the
words and confidence they need, even in times of uncertainty.
Threes prefer to discuss topics about which they feel confident,
and they look at their audience frequently in order to assess the
group’s reaction to what they are saying. If they perceive that oth-
ers are not responding favorably, Threes change the topic or adjust
their style of delivery.
