Tom Gable (United States) is founder and CEO of
Gable PR, a full service firm based in San Diego and
with clients throughout the west. Prior to starting his
firm in 1976, he was business editor of the San Diego
Tribune and wrote for The Wall Street Journal and other
business publications. He was a Pulitzer Prize nominee
and holds many awards for writing and public rela-
tions. Tom has represented a range of clients from start-ups to
Fortune 100 companies. He writes regularly for national business and
marketing media on trends in public relations. He is working on the
fifth edition of his PR Client Service Manual, sold through the Public
Relations Society of America (PRSA), currently number one in its cate-
gory. Tom speaks frequently at national conferences on trends in
public relations, crisis communication, strategic planning and reputa-
tion management. He has received four Silver Anvils, the highest
honour from PRSA. He was president of IPREX for two years and also
chairman of the Counsellors Academy of PRSA.
Jerry Hendin (United States) was the first Vice-
President of Communications for Boeing’s
Commercial Airplane Company and co-authored the
first manual for the airline industry on crisis communi-
cation. Since then, Jerry has trained more than 30 air-
lines around the world on how to protect their
businesses and their reputations in a crisis. After nearly
10 years at Boeing, where he was also the Vice-President, Public
Affairs–International, Jerry became the president and CEO of
Edelman Public Relations, Asia Pacific and continued working with
regional companies on crisis management issues. He is currently the
managing partner of Alliance Public Relations in Seattle, Washington,
a small consultancy that helps companies worldwide build and protect
their reputations around the world.
Stuart Hyslop (United Kingdom) held senior execu-
tive positions on The Daily Mail and The Times before
starting Surrey House Corporate Communication
Limited in 1985. He also worked on the London
Evening News, the London Evening Standard and The
Sunday Times in what was then referred to as Fleet
Street. Stuart is a member of the Chartered Institute of
Public Relations (CIPR), and Communicators in Business (CiB), and
takes a sharp interest in their affairs. He writes, lectures, teaches and
trains on a wide range of communication issues. He has trained,
organized exercises and assisted senior executives in crises in the UK,
