DETERMINATION OF DESIGN STORM
The design storm calculates the actual peak flow of rain that will be used for pipe sizing
purposes at all points throughout the system. The underlying theory is that a rainfall will stop
the exact moment a drop of water from the furthest point of the tributary area is contributing
to the flow in a particular section of the sewer. Therefore, calculations must establish the
