Lines are marked on the pattern pieces to show the direction of stripes on the
components (see Fig. 14.16). If the fabric has stripes of differing size and co-
lour, they are matched in colour and size at the joining point of the components.
Fabric consumption increases significantly when the pattern pieces are placed
obliquely.
