Public Recognition and Awards
The Motivational Mindset
■ Not all public recognition requires formal awards and
certificates. Public recognition can come in the form of
announcements at company events, bulletin boards, press
releases, company newsletters, and your website.
■ A certificate, plaque, or trophy is a lasting symbol of gratitude
for excellence. Certificates are a low-cost way to show your
appreciation or acknowledge accomplishments, but don’t give
them out so liberally that they lose meaning.
■ If you or your department is the recipient of an honor or a
reward, share the limelight.
■ Committee appointments within and outside the company
say you have confidence that someone will represent you and
your company well.
■ Groom employees to present information, findings, or ideas at
company meetings.
■ Delegate key responsibilities that involve others—internally
and externally.
■ Pass customer/client letters of praise up the chain of
command. Don’t keep your shining stars under a cloud.
■ Use your company website to acknowledge outstanding
achievements.

customer care skills. Our customer care surveys continually
