You receive a call from the sales department. They inform you that the customer
increased the initial order by 200,000 units. However, the customer requires a prototype
to verify the design in six days. What do you do? Answer: Contact a Rapid Prototype
supplier. You export three SOLIDWORKS files:
• HOUSING
• LENSCAP
• BATTERYPLATE
Use the Stereo Lithography (STL) format. Email the three files to a Rapid Prototype
supplier. Example: Paperless Parts Inc. (www.paperlessparts.com). A Stereolithography
(SLA) supplier provides physical models from 30 drawings. 2D drawings are not
required. Export the HOUSING. SOLID WORKS eDrawings provides a facility for you
to animate, view and create compressed documents to send to colleagues, customers and
vendors. Publish an eDrawing of the FLASHLIGHT assembly.
