Engineering Design with SOLIDWORKS® 2018 Swept, Lofted and Additional Features
~ Additional information on Interference Detection, eDrawings, STL files
(stereolithography), Guide Curves, Deform and Mold Tools are available in
SOLIDWORKS Help Topics.
Project Summary
The FLASHLIGHT assembly contains over 100 features, reference planes, sketches and
components. You organized the features in each part. You developed an assembly layout
structure to organize your components.
The 0-RING utilized a Swept Base feature. The SWITCH utilized a Loft Base feature.
The simple Swept feature requires two sketches: a path and a profile. A complex Swept
requires multiple sketches and guide curves. The Loft feature requires two or more
sketches created on different planes.
The LENSCAP and HOUSING utilized a variety of features. You applied design intent to
reuse geometry through Geometric relationships, symmetry and patterns.
The assembly required an Assembly Template. You utilized the ASM-IN-ANSI
Template to create the LENSANDBULB, CAPANDLENS, BATTERYANDPLATE and
FLASHLIGHT assemblies.
You created an STL file of the Housing and an eDrawing of the Housing to communicate
with your vendor, mold maker and customer. Review the project exercises before moving
on to the next Project.
