Feed and product water quality was monitored by analysis of COD,
BOD, pH, alkalinity, and turbidity, while biological parameters such as
MLSS, SVI, and DO were measured. All the analytical parameters were
st
computed by standard procedures given in APHA, 21 edition. An illustra-
tion of the actual installed plant is shown in Figure 9.12. The biological
parameters maintained and operating conditions for the plant are given in
Tables 9.5 and 9.6 respectively.
9.11 RESULTS AND DISCUSSION
Initially, a single-stage bioreactor process was proposed for the treatment of
wastewater. It was observed that by maintaining biological parameters, more
than a 90% COD reduction can be achieved as required for the discharged
