on its combination of attributes. Within that naming code, the first letter signifies part
type, either M for make, B for buy, or D for distributed. Next is the variability category, 1
for low, 2 for medium, or 3 for high. Next will be the lead-time category, 0 for short, 1 for
medium, or 2 for long. Finally, the buffer profile name will be appended with an MOQ if
a significant MOQ exists. For example, a distributed part with medium variability and
short lead time is in the buffer profile D20. A purchased part with high variability, long
lead time, and a significant MOQ will be in the buffer profile B32MOQ.
