a time line. Note that the current day is June 1. It is important to note that this initial date
is irrespective of quantity/capacity. It is simply driven by the ASRLT in the part’s bill of
material (BOM). Once the order with due date and quantity is sent to capacity require-
ments planning (CRP), a different release and/or promise date may be assigned to deal
with capacity limitations. Figure 26-18 is what the planner would see in relation to Part
123’s planning screen.
This example is a relatively simple one illustrating the materials scheduling effect
with a nonbuffered parent item only. A more complex example with a nonbuffered part
has a BOM comprised completely of nonbuffered parts. In Figure 26-19, the BOM is dis-
played in a horizontal rather than the traditional vertical fashion. This view provides
