Chapter 6
Peak Performance
“Whatever you are, be a good one.”
—Abraham Lincoln
hatever your field, certain life skills translate to good busi-
ness practices. Some of these come naturally to many
Wpeople, and others are cultivated with a little guidance
and a good role model or two. Creativity, initiative, critical thinking
skills, and a flexible mindset keep people thinking, contributing, and
moving a company forward. Presentation skills enhance informa-
tion sharing to large and small audiences. Time management and
organizational skills keep business, business relationships, and work
flow moving smoothly. The motivational manager gently encourages
building or honing these critical skills for peak performance.
Developing skills requires time and effort—yours and your
employees’. When that investment seems unreasonable, think of
Thomas Jefferson’s words: “I am a great believer in luck, and I find the
harder I work, the more I have of it.”
