Fundamentals of Assembly Modeling Engineering Design with SOLIDWORKS® 2018
Folders and Suppressed Components
The Assembly FeatureManager entries increase as components are inserted into the
Graphics window of an assembly. Folders reduce the length of the Assembly
FeatureManager in the part and assembly. Folders also organize groups of similar
components. Organize hardware in the assembly into folders.
Suppress features, parts and assemblies that are not displayed. During model rebuilding,
suppressed features and components are not calculated. This saves rebuilding time for
complex models. The names of the suppressed features and components are displayed in
light gray.
Create a folder in the FeatureManager named Hardware. Drag all individual bolts and
screws into the Hardware Folder. The DerivedLPatteml feature and the LocalLPatteml
feature cannot be dragged into a folder. Suppress the Hardware folder. Suppress the
DerivedLPatteml and LocalLPatteml feature.
