Chapter 3 Building the Robot 65
Now, you may want to wrap or braid the wires so that they are easier to
manage. Acroname recommends braiding the wires. You could also wrap
them with electrical tape or heat shrink tubing.
Now you will need to insert the long crimps into the black Molex housing.
You must ensure that the wires are inserted in the correct order. If you exam-
ine the housing, you will see a small arrowhead imprinted on the housing.
The wire that was the middle wire for the white connector should be inserted
into the slot that lines up with the arrowhead. The other two wires should be
inserted as shown next. The red wire goes into the center slot, and the yellow
wire into the other outside slot.
Repeat until you have three wire assemblies.
The Robot Geek Says
Wiring
You must ensure that the connector housings are wired correctly.
If you attach the wires incorrectly, your robot will certainly not work;
at worst, you might damage the controller board.
✖ In the sensor housing, the ground wire must be the center wire.
✖ In the controller board housing, the ground wire will be the wire
that lines up with the small arrowhead imprinted on the housing.
